This film review for ‘Motherless Brooklyn’ may contain minor spoilers, but no plot spoilers. The film itself is shot in a noir style, and plays heavily off of that. Edward Norton gives the film a good focal point to keep up with. However, following one character in a film like this is difficult to keep up with the plot. That is the point, of course, since it is a crime drama mystery film. Though it may sound a little grim, the film also has its comedic moments that help relieve some of the tension.

It is in the basic synopsis for the film that Edward Norton’s character has Tourettes Syndrome and I think he plays it very well. That is also a focal point that will leave you wondering what’ll happen at any given moment. Overall I think his character portrayals hit their mark. Every actor in the film feels at home in the role they were given.

By the conclusion of the film, I found myself getting anxious because the ending could have played out a few ways. Thus, I became worried if I would not like the film by then. I think the ending turned out the best way it could. Some people didn’t think it was as good as they thought it would be, but that isn’t me. I went into the film not knowing anything about it. Paying attention to the film let me keep up with it pretty well. It is a film that I recommend people go see if they are into the genre.

This film review for ‘Pulp Fiction’ is more of a review for almost all Tarantino films. I have been in love with his films for years. The way that he has his scenes play out, the drama, the humor, and the tension. That is part of the reason why I think that his films are so good. The biggest selling point for me for a Tarantino film are the characters. Thus, because the characters are written incredibly well, I love the films.

Pulp Fiction in particular is a well done film that pulls together all of its story lines rather well. The characters all have incredibly distinct personalities that conflict with others. Following inter-character conflicts, there is also the fact that none of the characters are perfect. His characters have their flaws and their strengths.Creating an interwoven story arc seems hard for a film that has all events outside of chronological order. Yet, he pulls it all together by the end.

IN CONCLUSION FOR THIS FILM REVIEW

The graphic violence and language are staples in his films. He doesn’t just do it for the sake of it, like other films might, but they all have purpose. The violence in the film comes from mistakes and poor planning most of the time and it drives the plot forward. This is a common theme through a lot of his films and it works out very well. Quentin Tarantino knows how to craft a well told story and Pulp Fiction is one of his most well crafted ones. ‘Pulp Fiction’ will go down as one of my favorite films of all time. Though other Tarantino films are just as good.

The reboot of the original Godzilla brings with it a very eerie feeling. The new Godzilla is explained in a very scientific way, but still leaves room for mystery. Thus, ‘Shin Godzilla’ can also keep interest. Therefore, if the film can keep people watching it must be good, right? That is correct and it is why I am writing this film review for ‘Shin Godzilla.’

This reboot of Godzilla was one that I was looking forward to ever since I heard about it. When I saw the film for the first time, I was confused because usually Godzilla just kind of exists. However, this time Godzilla is a creature that was unknown to the entirety of the public. Thus I was immediately hooked within the first minute of the film. Seeing a Godzilla that evolves before your eyes makes him all that more terrifying. Starting from the beginning, he is not much to look at, but he gets scary.

Even though Godzilla is weak at the start of the film, that does not mean he can’t cause tons of collateral damage. In this film he is back to just a mindless version of himself who is looking for nuclear energy. That motivation is what drives him; that, and survival pushes him to evolve rapidly. We also see how government officials would react in the modern age to something like Godzilla. Not well.

IN THE END

The next time we see Godzilla, he is a walking weapon of mass destruction. Even with advanced weaponry, he is impossible to harm permanently. Therefore, we see people trying to come up with new ways to stop him. As if to prove to us that he is a god, like his namesake, even the plan that does work won’t stop him forever. This is why I think this film is so well executed. It is also the reason why I am writing this film review for ‘Shin Godzilla.’

Falling Skies: They’re Here https://dtn.myuat.com/falling-skies-theyre-here/ https://dtn.myuat.com/falling-skies-theyre-here/#respond Mon, 21 Oct 2019 21:03:36 +0000 https://donttellnetflix.com/?p=1065 By George Robbins

‘Falling Skies’ is a series that I spent a lot of time watching and re-watching. As it is a completed series, I can be satisfied whenever I’m doing a watch through of the show and I reach the end. At the start you are thrown right into the action with little narrative explanation, but it is just enough to make sure that you know exactly what is going on. There is action right out of the gate when the show begins, but the biggest part of the show isn’t the action, so much as the drama. What would people do in an apocalyptic scenario and they were forced to fight or hide from aliens. That is a question that is answered very well in this show and makes for good, but also somewhat cheesy interactions between the characters. I always look forward to re-watching it every once in a while because I will suddenly remember how much I enjoy it.

The famous line which is the title of this post is just one of the paradoxical things about this film. The film contradicts itself all throughout and that is the point. Stanley Kubrick knew exactly what it was that he was doing when he made this film, and it is just him showing us how stupid human nature can be. Humans, all on their own, are paradoxical beings. We fight wars but at the same time want nothing but love ourselves. This comes across very candidly throughout the entire film and it makes you realize that humans really don’t know how to act. We are willing to do stupid things if it means getting what we want, even if it ends up hurting us anyway. This ends up being the thing in the film that is the most obvious, but people decide most of the time not to pay attention to it because it is the truth. No matter who it is everyone behaves contradictory to themselves on a regular basis. This is just human nature, but it is absolutely something that people should be aware of when they do anything.

There is a lot that can be said about this film, and the most obvious thing would be about the themes present throughout. The most prevalent themes throughout are related to change and how people react to things that are different. These themes are very easily seen throughout the entirety of the film from the start and all the way through to the end. Change is something that people will fight against any time that it is brought up and this extends to things that are different as well. People will fight tooth and nail to ensure that things always remain the same, but there are people who will fight against that sort of thing and they will do their best to bring about necessary change. This film does a superb job of showing off just that and it is a film that I feel as though everyone needs to see at least once in their life.

The Canterville Ghost: A Classic Ghost Story https://dtn.myuat.com/the-canterville-ghost-a-classic-ghost-story/ https://dtn.myuat.com/the-canterville-ghost-a-classic-ghost-story/#respond Mon, 21 Oct 2019 18:23:36 +0000 https://donttellnetflix.com/?p=975 By George Robbins

The 1944 classic rendition of ‘The Canterville Ghost’ is a fantastic movie that is a joy to watch even in modern day. Watching an older film can more often than not become difficult to watch and have your immersion broken due to technology at the time. This film is one that you can watch all the way through and not really have that issue. It is a film that was made for everyone to enjoy, no matter what your age might be. It also has its fair share of drama and dark moments as well, but it is still enjoyable for people of all ages. If there is one classic I will always go back to, then it would be this film a majority of the time.
