The reboot of the original Godzilla brings with it a very eerie feeling. The new Godzilla is explained in a very scientific way, but still leaves room for mystery. Thus, ‘Shin Godzilla’ can also keep interest. Therefore, if the film can keep people watching it must be good, right? That is correct and it is why I am writing this film review for ‘Shin Godzilla.’

This reboot of Godzilla was one that I was looking forward to ever since I heard about it. When I saw the film for the first time, I was confused because usually Godzilla just kind of exists. However, this time Godzilla is a creature that was unknown to the entirety of the public. Thus I was immediately hooked within the first minute of the film. Seeing a Godzilla that evolves before your eyes makes him all that more terrifying. Starting from the beginning, he is not much to look at, but he gets scary.

Even though Godzilla is weak at the start of the film, that does not mean he can’t cause tons of collateral damage. In this film he is back to just a mindless version of himself who is looking for nuclear energy. That motivation is what drives him; that, and survival pushes him to evolve rapidly. We also see how government officials would react in the modern age to something like Godzilla. Not well.

IN THE END

The next time we see Godzilla, he is a walking weapon of mass destruction. Even with advanced weaponry, he is impossible to harm permanently. Therefore, we see people trying to come up with new ways to stop him. As if to prove to us that he is a god, like his namesake, even the plan that does work won’t stop him forever. This is why I think this film is so well executed. It is also the reason why I am writing this film review for ‘Shin Godzilla.’

This film review for Shaun of the Dead is one that will be filled with gratitude. Not just gratitude for the movie, but for the Cornetto Trilogy itself. ‘Shaun of the Dead’ was released in 2004, and upon its first release, it was a film that was beloved for its writing. Following the film’s release I did not expect to see a comedy- horror film. I thought this was just going to be another zombie film. I have never been so glad to be wrong.

The Cornetto Trilogy is an anthology trilogy and this film starts it all. Thus this film is one of my favorites of all time. This is because the director, Edgar Wright, has a specific writing and directing style. Simon Pegg being involved in the writing process made it just all that more special to me. This film is an excellently crafted take on zombie films and it is full of moments that just make you laugh.

Shaun of the dead is full of moments that are quick and absurd to downright cheeky. Moving forward, all three movies have the same type of directionality. The humor is always easy to pick up on, but some of the best humor comes from paying a lot of attention to detail. Edgar Wright directed media is full of details that need to be paid attention to. Everything that happens, sometimes including background events, has a purpose in the film. These types of details make the jokes even better than if they were left on their own.

IN CONCLUSION

All of the films in the Cornetto Trilogy share the same characteristics that this one has. That just makes them all the better for it. The style of these films is a style that I have fallen in love with. Therefore, because of that style I still find new things whenever I watch the films. I hope that in reading this, you’ll watch them as well, and you pay attention to as much as possible.

This film review for The Cabin in the Woods is being written to help decide if the film is worth watching. The movie is set up to seem like a slasher film at the start. This foreshadows much of the events that unfold. Thus, it is impossible to predict how it will play out. I did not know what I was going in to when I saw it for the first time. Although I knew it was a horror film, I didn’t know it was a comedy. Anyone who thought the same was in for a rude awakening.

The start of the film makes you quickly realize it is meant to be a parody. When everything begins to go wrong, I almost immediately started cracking up. The film itself is full of plenty of horror themes including the traditional blood and gore. However, as soon as people started placing bets on which monsters would kill the main cast I was holding my stomach laughing. The movie doesn’t take itself too seriously, so neither should you. It knows what it is and that is the point.

This film review for ‘The Cabin in the Woods’ is simply here to make you realize it is a fun movie. If you are going into this for a pure horror experience, then you will be disappointed. I would gladly watch this film over and over because comedy and horror just so happen to be my favorite genres. If that isn’t for you, then fine, but if it is, you are in for a good time.

Krampus Film Review: This film is one that you may or may not find scary, depending on how well you handle horror comedies. Personally this is not a film that I would watch more than once or twice a year. I am not even sure why I am writing this film review. It’s not that I don’t like horror comedies, it is instead the fact that the Krampus design is off-putting; it isn’t scary, but creepy. It is a well made movie in which they did not waste any money with the effects. The cast is a very well put together ensemble that can play well off of one another. This is why I think that this is a film that should be seen at least once. If you liked Krampus I definitely recommend checking out Killer Klowns from Outer Space

This is one of my favorite Stephen King adaptations, and from what I’ve heard it’s one of his too. I remember the first time that I saw this film I was filled with suspense and anticipation. On top of that there were moments thrown in that just skeeved me out, but it was a welcomed experience. It is easily in my top ten list for horror films and that is mainly just because of the ending. The premise of the movie is one that is easy to follow right from the start and you already know that it is a horror film from the first couple of minutes. There is also an air of mystery surrounding the events going on in the film, and this just ends up making it more engrossing as time goes on. ‘The Mist’ is a film that makes you want to keep watching for that same reason. It is not a film with no faults whatsoever, but it is a movie that I think is an absolutely necessary watch just so that people can understand what a terrifying situation can do to make people go insane. This is easily a horror film mixed with a film on human behavior in social situations that should be studied so that people are aware of what other people will do in desperate times.

The best way for me to sum up this film is exactly what is in the title of this post. Not just space can be terrifying though; humans, as shown in the film, can be just as scary as well with the things they do or make. The film is just full of horrifying things throughout, and some things are more obvious than others. This film lets you know early on just what type of film it is going to turn into. The film goes from mystery to thriller-horror very quickly and it is just as fantastic as it is terrifying. I can maybe see why the film received average or low scores when it released, but there is definitely a reason for why the film is now considered to be a cult classic film. There are a ton of themes that play throughout, but it seems that religious themes take the first pedestal in that regard. It isn’t something that is just constantly pushed in your face though, so I think that the film avoids being too preachy. It is a great film, and an excellent horror film that I think any horror movie buff should definitely go and watch.

I feel as though I need to first preface this by saying that I have never had any problems with clowns, but this movie made me feel uncomfortable around them now. The titular Klowns are just creepy and eerie looking, and they just make you feel awkward by looking at them. The film itself has a ridiculous premise, so of course it is a comedic horror movie, but that still doesn’t mean it’s not creepy to sit through. If you like horror movies, then this is definitely a movie for you to watch, and I strongly recommend that you do. Just know that it is exactly as weird as you may think it is, and if you have seen it, you can definitely agree with me at least to some extent. If you are already afraid of clowns, then you may just have candy-coated nightmares for the rest of your life. That is, assuming the film doesn’t give you a heart attack.

This film has a special place in my heart as being a science fiction movie that you can love to hate sometimes. It is supposed to be a horror movie to some degree, but it just comes off as being another action movie. Don’t get me wrong however, because the film is still fun to watch. All I’m saying is that there are other options for horror or action films. This isn’t even the best film for horror with sharks, the obvious and cliched answer, but also the correct one is ‘Jaws.’ For an action movie with sharks, this might just be the best in the category. It’s a stupid fun movie to watch and is worth any time you put into it.

There are a lot of classic horror movies out there in the world, and a lot of them have very similar themes. This movie is no exception to this, however that does not mean that it isn’t an interesting movie to watch. All of the characters, like most people in real life, have something that they try to hide. This is something that is unavoidable, but it doesn’t mean that it is something that should be ignored or forcefully forgotten. Nearing the completion of the film it can be seen that the main theme is to accept your own shortcomings and grief so that you can try and move past them. This film shows that sometimes the best thing to do in situations is to face them head on and sometimes fight like your life depended on it. This is something that can be taken into everyday life; even if you have something go wrong no matter how big or small, you should fight to try and get through it. For me this is the most poignant point that I see being made in this film. If people don’t agree with this, that is fine, but it is advice that should be followed nonetheless. We all have the capacity to fight to make our lives better, and that is shown at the film’s climax. The Ritual is not just some horror movie to me, it is a movie that makes me think about how I should act in my own life, and for that reason I believe it is a film that is worth the watch. That is the true horror that is a result of this film.

Where to even begin with this film. It is an old, cheesy horror movie, but you have to love it for that exact reason. The film itself is nothing special, but the way the plot unfolds with the titular “Stuff,” is in itself entertaining to watch. The reason people enjoy watching cheesy horror movies is because they come off as being more funny than horrifying. We know that these movies don’t take themselves too seriously, and that is why they can be fun to watch. That’s not to be said that they can’t just be plain terrible, but this one will keep you entertained from start to finish.
